RULES, BABY
if you don't follow them, i'll let fenrir greyback loose on your kids!
GENERAL !
to start with, we go by the three strikes and you're out rule, purely based on the fact it works nicely, and it allows people to redeem themselves if they're given a warning and junk. so there's a few things which i will most certainly not tolerate on this board. and i'm only saying this because there are certain people who are like that in person. racism and sexism are a big one, no matter how subtle it is. everybody around here is equal, whether they're a member, a mod, an admin or a guest. treat everyone how you want to be treated, mmkay? This is a pg-13 site, which means no sex, drugs, alcohol or anything of the like, and that also means members are not allowed to post pictures containing nudity or anything rude and/or vulgar. finally, spamming on the roleplaying boards is condemned, so don't do it. we have ooc boards for a reason! and don't bash the board.
REGISTERING !
i'll make this very clear: when you register, make sure it's with a first, middle and a last name all in lowercase. us admins don't want to have to spend time changing everybody's usernames because they didn't stick to the rules. also, if you're going to play a register, pleasepleaseplease don't register with the same surname as a canon as it confuses things. and makes it like the canons have a long lost relative. if you do want to do the whole long lost relative thing, i'd appreciate it if you could register with your own choice of surname, thanks. i'm really going to stress this one because there's always somebody who's guilty of it. nobody is perfect. i hate to be quoting hannah montana or whatever her name is but really, characters need flaws! also, if an admin spots any of these mistakes in your application, or your sample does not appear literate enough, the admins reserve the right to reject your application. finally, signature's must not stretch the board skin as it looks untidy! if they do stretch the skin, they will be deleted without warning. a little note on your character having "special abilities", well they can't. unless is specified on the canon list. this means we can only have canon veelas, werewolves, vampires, metamorphmagus' and animagi. sorry about that.
ROLEPLAYING !
i've said it before, and i'll say it again. this is a literate side, going on advanced, so there is a 300 word minimum for all In-Character posts. there's no chatspeak tolerated unless you're in the chatbox. even then, only minor chatspeak such as brb and lol is accepted. i'm sorry if this is an inconvenience to anybody but i freaking despise when people type "u" or "r" as opposed to spelling the things out properly. when you are posting make sure it's in the past tense as it make things so much bloody easier for us all to understand. okay, so no powerplaying or godmoding unless you've plotted out a roleplay with somebody, and you have the other roleplayers permission. you can powerplay and godmode to your hearts content, then. right so if you plan to kill off your character please get it checked up with an admin as we don't want mass suicides here at hogwarts.finally, if you are starting up a roleplay with a specific character, make sure that everybody knows its for a specific character, so nobody else posts. if you do see a board made for a specific character, you should respect that and not post there. now, if you understand all these go make a character that we'll all fall in love with! or whatever tickles your fancy. how yeah, our secret phrase for the application template is rick rolled. ...-cough- yes, it's an inside joke. don't ask unless you want the full story.
SCHOOL RULES!
apparating and disapparating are banned in hogwarts; in fact, even if you tried your hardest for it to work, it wouldn't. you'd probably just cause a lot a strain on yourself. first and second years cannot take part on the visits to hogsmeade unless given permission by the headmaster himself. everybody should be at their dormitories by nine o clock pm. anybody who is found, whether by a prefect or by a professor, will be instantly placed in a detention without further argument. yes, this does in fact mean that prefects, the head boy and our head girl can give other students detentions.
