It was early morning. A cool breeze had lifted and was working its way through Hogwarts, across the grounds. It pushed fog away from the Black Lake, and left it swirling towards the dark forest. Albus walked slowly, his wand twirling in his fingertips as he stared out across the water, a frown on his features. He hadn't received anything from his parents. Usually they sent an owl first thing before classes, to let him know they'd gotten home safe and that they couldn't wait for the holidays to come. But nothing. Even when his mother had promised she'd send him a batch of chocolate fudge at the same time. Ginny Potter always made the best fudge. A weak smile forced its way across his features, and he shifted, straightening before he dropped down on the bank, his legs stretched out before him. Harry hadn't seen them off. That worried Albus a little, especially since it was James' last year. Something was wrong with their father, Albus could sense it. He was spending more and more time at the ministry, more time locked away in his study. more time away from the family. Lily was upset by the lack of attention he showed them, while James really couldn't give a shit. Albus didn't really care all that much either. If Harry wanted to spend his time poring over books and spells, so be it. While Albus cared about his family, there wasn't anything he could do about it from Hogwarts, no matter how worried he was.
His attention turned back to the lake as a thestral flew across the opposite bank, before it turned and disappeared back into the forest. No one else knew this, but he'd been able to see them for almost two years, ever since an accident on the Quidditch pitch. They'd covered it up fairly well, but everyone still mourned Alyssa Turner. Albus had been the only one to witness her death, as her broom had gone haywire and had thrown her into the Slytherin's changing rooms. He'd followed and he'd been there, holding her hand as she passed.
His eyes narrowed, and he blocked the memory before looking away, his eyes darting back to the school. Class would be starting soon, which meant he had to get back up there and get ready. It was kind of useless if he was late his first day back.

Walking around the grounds Tahlia looked up to the sky and blinked lightly. The start of a new school year was beginning and she was nervous not because if was school but because she was now a 5th year and she only had two years left until her brother and Albus graduated from Hogwarts. Lisette, she was sure, would do anything in her power to keep them away from her. Tahlia had to come up with a plan to get their attention away from her. As her eyes crossed the lake she blinked and sighed.
The thought of being one of the oldest in her year bothered her because she would be far older then the other 5th years and she felt she deserved to be in the next year. She had woken early so she could think a little before classes started. Walking around she swallowed hard and blinked. This was a time when she could be alone and think about things. She rarely found the time but right now she had really wanted to so she could reflect over the summer and try and think of ways to get the boy’s attention off Lisette and onto her.
Breathing in deeply she just wished she could think of something now. Covering her face she stopped and sighed softly. It drove her crazy that Lisette stole the attention of Albus and her brother. Shaking her head she walked on and looked around. Being who she was she knew that she could have any one she wanted except for the two she really wanted. Growling softly to herself she continued to walk until she came upon the bank.
Squinting she had seen someone sitting there but couldn’t tell who it was. Growing closer she saw him and stopped in her tracks. This was the time when she could actually be alone with him. Swallowing she took in a breath and smile lightly walking over to him. Standing behind him she watched him for a moment. When his head went to the castle. Biting her lip she thought quickly.
”You alright Albus? You seem…I don‘t know. Nervous or distracted.”she spoke softly in her sweet voice. Being around him always caused that sweet side to come out. Lisette seemed to be the main one that brought out the claws. So many reasons why and Tahlia was sure she knew none of them. Grinning at that thought she shook her head and drew her attention back to Albus.
