”Well...”
Her stomach did this weird odd twisty pretzel type thing and it wasn't pleasant if the description did not convey that appropriately. Adriane didn't want this question to be answered. She would let him, but she really just wanted to keep kissing him. If Adriane liked awkward situations or ones that could lead to arguments or hurt feelings, she would have told Gavin that she liked him years and years ago.
When it came to Gavin, Adriane wasn't the brave sort. Yes, she was upfront and honest about most things with him. It was just that when it came to protecting her heart and their friendship. Those were the most important things in the world to her. That and killing her parents. But, that's another conversation for another day. No scratch that. That was a conversation she was sure she'd never let slip out with Gavin.
”Well, you’d have to keep anything we did secret, wouldn’t you?”
She almost cringed when he said it. That's exactly the type of question Adriane wanted to avoid addressing when she had started kissing him. Maybe...maybe she could distract him again? Well, those were her thoughts when she placed relatively light kisses upon his jaw and his neck. The blush upon his cheeks, which Adriane took in quickly, gave it away. She had succeeded in distracting him if only for a moment. Of course, she had also distracted herself with those actions. Adriane blushed and buried her head into his shoulder.
”Because aside from that… I would totally…”
She peered up at him, a smile creeping upon her lips as she saw one appear upon Gavin's.
”wannabeeeyourboyfriendorwhatever.”
She took the sound, replaying it over in her mind about four times before her eyebrows raised. Adriane picked up her head from his shoulder, gently and kissed him on the cheek before she looked him in the eye.
"You deserve more than to be my secret boyfriend...but....I...want you to be my boyfriend and it's only a year and I promise I'll make it the best yearlong secret romance ever in history."
Adriane bit her lip nervously, an apprehensive look upon her face as she waited for him to say something.

Gavin was skeptical. He didn’t know what to expect after what he had said… the mumblings and all. He wasn’t very good with words when he was around girls… and the fact that he knew Adriane liked him just made it all the more worse. He sighed quietly as he waited for some sort of response from her… as her head was still resting gently on his shoulder. Not that he minded, of course. Gavin’s stomach did a flip when she picked up her head and kissed him on the cheek. Well… here goes…
”You deserve more than to be my secret boyfriend…but…I…want you to be my boyfriend and it’s only a year and I promise I’ll make it the best yearlong secret romance ever in history.”
Gavin looked out at the lake. So she wasn’t going to give in and let him be her boyfriend… for real. No, Gavin didn’t think that what they would be doing could be considered a relationship. Just… with the secrets and the lies and everything… it was close to a relationship. But it wasn’t the same thing if you couldn’t tell people about it. And it would for sure get out even if you told one person. That much was for sure. Gossip at Hogwarts was definitely not hard to come by…
But as for answering Adriane? Well, of course Gavin would say he didn’t mind. That’s how Gavin was. He was just so accommodating… so accommodating, in fact… that he hated himself for it. But it was just how he always was, just letting people walk all over him, and doing nice things for people. He was like a robot… you tell him to do something, and he’ll do it. No questions asked. Which… even though he was apprehensive about being a secret boyfriend… he was going to say yes. Obviously. ”I’m sure you will,” he said with a small smile, the look in his eye showing just a little bit of sadness.

”I’m sure you will.”Adriane had been looking him right in the eye as he replied to her, so she would not miss that unmistakable look in his eye. Adriane was a great observer and she knew Gavin so well. That was not a normal look. It was clear what she saw - a hint of sadness. She stopped biting her lip, frowning lightly at him as her eyes traced down to the smile upon his lips. He was happy but not truly satisfied. And, of course, neither was Adriane. She would love to have friends who liked her for who she truly was and would accept her and Gavin dating. But, she didn't. Her friends were not friends, but "friends". It was her last year and she didn't want to spend it in social exile. Adriane did not do well with abandonment. She gave him a weak smile, desperately trying to think of a way to make him completely content for the moment. Well...she could always......... Oh Adriane! How scandalous were her thoughts?! "You knooowww," she started, mischievously, moving her face close to his. Her voice was slightly higher than a whisper. "They say the lake is chilly anytime of year. And...I was wondering if you might...want to help me find out?" Adriane raised one eyebrow at him.

Gavin didn’t know what to do. He didn’t know what to say… but most of all he didn’t know what to think. He knew that being a secret boyfriend was going to have its perks, but it would also have its negatives, too. They couldn’t be seen together in the halls or anywhere for that matter… he couldn’t hold her hand in public… not that he would do that anyway without some sort of prompt from Adriane… No. The only spontaneous thing he had ever done was kiss her… and now he was beginning to think that maybe spontaneity was the way to go? But that was impossible… there was definitely no possible way that he could just go from being completely wall flower-like one day to completely spontaneous and interactive the next. No way, no how.
”You knooowww.”
Gavin brought his attention back to Adriane. Was she going to tell him what she decided? Or had they come to a conclusion? Were they dating? Or were they not going to do that? What was going on?! Suddenly her face was very near to his own and… what? Why is this happening? Is she going to try some hanky panky… no. Adriane would not try to do that with him. No, especially not out by the lake. That would be completely and utterly ridiculous. So why was it dominating his mind? Well, for one, it wasn’t. He just thought about it because of the proximity and the fact that they both like one another… and for two? Well, there really wasn’t a two.
”They say the lake is chilly anytime of year. And…I was wondering if you might…want to help me find out?”
What was that supposed to mean? Gavin matched her raised eyebrow with a raised eyebrow of his own. Adriane wanted to go swimming? In the lake? This disgusting lake that apparently had a giant squid living in it? Well, Gavin hadn’t ever seen it. But he had heard stories… and he really didn’t want to get snatched up by it. But… if Adriane wanted to go swimming, there really wasn’t anything he could do but say yes. With his… current state of being so accommodating, that is. So… any idea or plan that Adriane would think up at this moment in time? Well, it would be followed through. If Gavin had anything to say about it, that is. ”W-whatever you think, Adriane. You know I would join you i-i-in a heart beat…” What was this stuttering now? Adriane was just another girl… no. She wasn’t just another girl. From what he thought… she was his girl. Even if only secretly…

When Gavin raised an eyebrow at her, Adriane proceeded to raise both eyebrows back at him, her eyes widening some. Yes, yes she did want to go swimming in the lake. Merpeople were not mean and the Giant Squid was rumored to be friendly. And wasn't it possible for grindylows to be domesticated by Merpeople? Yes, surely it was perfectly safe to swim in the lake. Might it be a bit chilly? Well, it was at the beginning of the school year so perhaps it wouldn't be too bad. Only time would tell, right? ”W-whatever you think, Adriane. You know I would join you i-i-in a heart beat…”And that was so cute. Too cute, in fact. The stuttering. Nervous stuttering for her? Why, this was not something she had ever expected. Of course, it was Gavin but...it just hadn't occurred to her as a possibility. Adriane pressed her lips to his very light for just a moment. And then she smiled, sweetly. "Nowww I hadn't exactly planned on swimming. So I'm without proper swimwear." She raised her eyebrows, raising her chin slightly as well in order to make it known that..well, there would be less clothing involved. In the daylight?! Well it was dusk-ish, but still. Adriane was going to be without regular clothing in a public area. So what? If anyone came along what a nice treat that would be for them to see Adriane in her underthings. Good for them. She brushed the thought off. Really, she could care less. Except...for Gavin. It was Gavin that she was more nervous about. No guy had ever seen her in just her bra and panties before. Not that Gavin was going to get to see! Adriane planned on making him avert his gaze and getting into the water, which could provide some cover as it wasn't exactly clear. Then again, it wasn't exactly the murkiest. "Now..um...turn around while I um...." She blushed, taking her arms from around his neck and walking off quickly to a nearby tree. Quickly her school robe and uniform would have fallen to the ground. Adriane Koller! What are you doing?!, she screamed at herself mentally. "I'm trying to make this secret boyfriend thing seem better for him..sheesh," she muttered, answering herself aloud. A splash would announce her entrance into the water. Adriane stayed under for a moment, rubbing her face with her hands so whatever makeup had been left on her face after crying would be completely gone. The water was slightly chilly, but not horrid in any fashion. "Do you need me to close my eyes?" She called, gently, treading water and making sure her body stayed below surface level, though Gavin was far enough away he wouldn't be able to see anything.

Gavin felt incredibly ridiculous for stuttering. In front of Adriane. He was never nervous in front of her, so why should he start now? In fact… now that their secrets were all out in the open… well for the most part, would it not be easier to not be nervous around her? Or was the idea about being with her making him nervous, as if being her boyfriend would shoo her away? Yeah, the latter was probably it, unfortunately… But then Adriane kissed him softly and his thoughts were gone, as if he’d been obliviated.
”Nowww I hadn’t exactly planned on swimming. So I’m without proper swimwear.”
Gavin raised his eyebrow yet again. He looked about the campus, noticing the lack of students and the sun starting to make its way down. But what? So she was going to take her clothes off to go swimming in the lake? She couldn’t just take her robe off and go in her uniform? Oh, gee. Gavin felt a small blush cover his cheeks as he thought about it… Adriane in her underwear, I mean. Seventeen and still blushing like a child in a situation like that. Tsk, tsk. Gavin merely stood there, glancing down at the water once before looking back at Adriane. Surely she wasn’t going to just strip down right in front of him… or strip down at all! The thought scandalized Gavin to the core.
”Now..um…turn around while I um…”
Gavin did what he was told. He was still in shock that she was going to do this in the first place. In public! So he covered his eyes and turned towards the school, so he would be doubly covered should she assume that he was going to sneak a peek. Which he wouldn’t! Because he was still in shock! And when you were in shock… or better yet, when Gavin was in shock, he was going to stay as far away from trouble as he could. And right now, that meant turning his back on a girl that had just plunged into murky-ish water in her underwear. Oh. My. Voldemort. Gavin turned back around to the girl who was submerged in water, her head just breaking the surface.
Gavin just stood there like an eleven-year-old boy again. Shocked, confused, and… well… amazed. Luckily for him, his mouth was not hanging open like his eleven-year-old self probably would have been. He just… wow. This was…
”Do you need me to close my eyes?”
Gavin ran a hand through his dark hair and stood there like a dork… not that that was too difficult a task. ”Um… ye-eah. Please…” Gavin still wasn’t so sure about this… but he’d do it. For Adriane’s sake. And for this uncontrollable urge to… NOT GO THERE… But as quickly as possible he had moved to the tree and lost his uniform and jumped into the lake. When his head broke the surface, all that muttered from his lips was a quiet, but audible, ”Bloody hell.” and one could only imagine why that was the first thing out of his mouth.

I mean, if Adriane hadn't already known what she was going to do, she would have blushed in the situation as well. It wasn't as if she was the most confident girl on the planet. Sure, she had a healthy level of self-esteem, but that didn't mean she touted herself about in her underwear for just anyone to see. The only people that saw her down to her bra and panties were the girls with whom she shared a dorm room. Not a boy. Never a boy! Though, of course many had tried to get there. Adriane was just very good at rejecting people. In fact, Gavin always rushed into her mind when a guy tried to get particularly scandalous with her. Why? Because she cared about Gavin's opinion and she always wondered what he would think and would hate to have Gavin think her one of those girls....because she liked him and had always wanted to be with him. Adriane didn't want to be considered too tarnished if she ever got the opportunity. And now she had... ”Do you need me to close my eyes?”She didn't expect Gavin to expect this. She was catching him off guard and throwing him completely off, or so Adriane imagined. Hopefully, this was the best way she could ever catch him off guard. What more could a 17 year old boy want eh? But any other boy would have been in the water by this point and up in her personal space. Adriane chose to do this with Gavin because well...he wasn't that guy and that's what she adored about him. ”Um… ye-eah. Please…”"Aaaaalright," she said, sighing as if she really didn't want to and..maybe she didn't? But she turned around in the water, putting her wet hands over her eyes gently. As soon as she heard the splash, she twirled around, removing her hands from her eyes and opening them to look at her boyfriend. Or, at least she thought he was her boyfriend now. They could confirm that in a bit. ”Bloody hell.”"Oh I didn't think it was...that cold Gavin..geez." She was about a foot in front of him, treading water and looking between him and the water, wondering if he could see.....her. And then, Adriane blushed.

Gavin wondered what had come over Adriane. She was never like this during school. She was never like this… ever! Never had she ever wanted to go swimming with him… especially in her underwear. Gavin hadn’t ever expected her to strip down to her underwear even remotely near him. Not saying that he hadn’t thought about it before… he was a boy… and only seventeen. Those thoughts were allowed… but now it was happening… and oh. My. Voldemort.
What was this now? Were they dating? Was that why it was suddenly a-okay to be in your skivvies in public with one another? Because… he was pretty sure that two friends don’t go jumping into a lake in their underwear together. Well… not a boy and a girl friend that just had a heart-to-heart about their feelings for one another anyway. Not unless they planned on getting some! But again! We’re not going there! That is not appropriate… and just the thought was making Gavin’s cheeks turn even brighter red, if that was even possible!
”Bloody hell.”
”Oh I didn’t think it was…that cold Gavin…geez.”
Gavin just looked at her. She was about a foot in front of him. It wasn’t that the water was cold, per say… it was just… everything. Everything that had happened in the course of however long they had been standing outside. It all just slammed on him at that very moment. While he was jumping in. And it wasn’t because it was cold. No, a very different reaction probably would have escaped his lips then. ”No, it’s not that,” he said as he started to tread the water. Gavin lowered his head into the water a bit so just his eyes were above the water before popping up again. ”So I hate to be a buzzkill… but what’s going on? Like, really…” Gavin was going to be Curious George now. Curious, curious, George. ”Like, what’s up? You never want anything to do with me during school… now you’re hugging me, and kissing me… and we’re swimming in our skivvies for Voldemort’s sake! What is up? Not that I’m complaining of course… just… what changed?”
Adriane would probably take that the wrong way. He hoped in all hell that she wouldn’t… ”Okay. So I didn’t mean it like that… I’m just curious is all…” he said, wishing that he hadn’t spoken at all. There he was, in his underwear (oh how glad he was that he wore boxers and not whitey tighties today) and there she was, in her underwear… and BLUSHING OH MY VOLDEMORT! Gavin just blushed… and then blushed more… and then… as if he couldn’t blush any more, he did!

The color on Gavin's cheeks was fairly noticeable or at least it was to Adriane. She was close to him, but not too close of course. She wasn't meant to get to close, was she? What had Adriane actually intended to happen by inviting Gavin for a swim in the lake? Kosher fun? A bit of a splash and a pal around? Clearly she had intended to makeup for the "secret" part in "secret boyfriend", but how did she intend on doing that? No, really. How? Because of course Gavin would not know what was going on or Adriane's thoughts. And he would most certainly not be taking advantage of her while she was barely clothed. Gavin was not the type. ”No, it’s not that.”Her eyes narrowed a bit at him as he lowered himself down into the water a bit before popping back up. She was curious and focused. ”So I hate to be a buzzkill… but what’s going on? Like, really…” Why didn't she see this coming? She really should have seen this coming. No, like really. Gavin was a Ravenclaw. He was smart. He liked facts and information and learning. He wanted knowledge and now he wanted knowledge of their relationship. Gavin was indeed the inquisitive and curious sort. He was the type to ask questions. Adriane could be curious, but she usually avoided questions. ”Like, what’s up? You never want anything to do with me during school… now you’re hugging me, and kissing me… and we’re swimming in our skivvies for Voldemort’s sake! What is up? Not that I’m complaining of course… just… what changed?”Her eyebrows shut up in an instant. Wooooaaaaahhh. Where was all of this coming from?! Gavin had just word vomited all over her. It was as if they had traded traditional gender roles for an instant. She was dominant and he was submissive. But, that's how things always were between them. Adriane was a dominant personality and that had always been the dynamic. It's one of the reasons she liked him so much. Gavin could put up with her. But at this moment it was so glaringly obvious. She had never been questioned like this before. Lots of information to take in.. "Um..well.."Adriane thought herself a bit overwhelmed, eyes wide. She blushed. Way to go Gavin. Pointing out they were swimming in their underthings and making a huge deal out of it. When Adriane was there, before him, under the water and feeling now completely exposed whether he could see her or not. Her cheeks instantly grew to take on a cherry color. ”Okay. So I didn’t mean it like that… I’m just curious is all…”Him saying that while his face was beet red didn't help her form words any easier. "N-nothing..changed." Did Adriane Koller just stutter? She had never once stuttered in her life and now her best friend had gone and reduced her to stuttering! How....unexpected. She stopped, catching herself off guard with her own hesitation. Adriane swallowed. "Gavin, I.....I've liked you since we were like 10..before Hogwarts. And you just....were my first friend after Corinne and helped me through so much..you don't even know...and then today I broke and you were here and I just......I couldn't resist anymore..But all I did was kiss you on the cheek! And then you kissed me and...and..." Her eyes suddenly teared at the mention of Corinne and she looked off to one side, treading water with just her legs...quickly. Her arms were folded over her chest, completely self-conscious.

Gavin felt like a girl. Not that that was a bad thing of course, he just felt awful for spouting so much at one time… and he wasn’t ever like that. No… Gavin would normally have just gone along with her little game and enjoyed it, keeping his thoughts to himself. He really did not know what he was doing, confronting her in such a manner as he was. He felt wretched for doing so and his bottom lip was thus shoved into his mouth after his word vomit, as Adriane’s creator so nicely put it.
But he was curious! Gavin had every right to be curious, didn’t he? What was going on? Like, seriously!? He didn’t want to ruin the fun, and he really, really wished he hadn’t said anything… but it just came out. He needed to know. Needed.
”N-nothing..changed.”
Gavin stopped biting his lip for a moment to look at Adriane. Were they switching roles at the present time? Usually he was the one to stutter. He wouldn’t point it out of course. He just kept treading the water, keeping his gaze fixed on her face, gently. Gavin felt rather awkward, and he wished he could just duck under water and swim away… or maybe find a grindylow that would take him under so he wouldn’t have to deal with the embarrassment anymore. Yes, he was embarrassed.
”Gavin, I….I’ve liked you since we were like 10...before Hogwarts. And you just…were my first friend after Corinne and helped me through so much...you don’t even know…and then today I broke and you were here and I just……I couldn’t resist anymore...But all I did was kiss you on the cheek! And then you kissed me and…and…”
Gavin felt horrible. If he didn’t already feel horrible about bringing things up before… now she was talking about her sister again. Gavin hoped that he wasn’t the cause of that… But what should he do now? Surely he couldn’t hug her… they were in their underwear… That would be nothing but awkward, wouldn’t it? But a hug almost seemed necessary… since she was tearing up from what Gavin could see of her side-turned face.
To hug, or not to hug? To say something, or not to say something? Gavin decided he really did need to say something… he couldn’t very well let a crying Adriane be… as much as he wanted to. But he wasn’t going to initiate anything anymore. Now he had seen the effects of that. And he… felt awful. Really awful. ”Adriane…” he said, softly, trying to get her attention before reaching forward and gently touching her arm. ”I… don’t know what to say. Everything I’ve said or done has been wrong today,” Gavin took his hand back and looked away a moment before starting to tread the water with his arm once more. ”I wouldn’t ever take back that kiss…” he added softly, looking back at Adriane. ”Just… can I call you mine?”

Adriane's mind was racing. What had changed?! What had changed?! She had changed. Things had changed. Ever since Corinne was gone, things had changed. But Gavin had always stayed the same. Gavin was her constant and was always there for her. She could count on him 110%, even when she didn't deserve it. Not that he ever knew she counted on him so much. He never knew because Adriane never spoke a word. And now she had went and ruined it by kissing him on the cheek. And then he had ruined it worse by kissing her on the lips and making her heart do that irresistible fluttering thing that is fairly normal when the boy you have been pining after for over 7 years finally kisses you. Now things were ruined. This would ruin them and their friendship, because he had pointed out things were changing. And then she would be alone and then she would curl up in a ball and...cry? Oh how her mind raced...until. ”Adriane…”Her name and then....a touch upon her arm made her turn her cold teary eyes back to look into his. ”I… don’t know what to say. Everything I’ve said or done has been wrong today.”See she knew it! He shouldn't have kissed her or held her or done any of it! He knew it too! Their friendship should have stayed the way it was. A friendship. She felt so foolish and he probably felt equally so. It was wrong for him to follow her and wrong for him to hold her. Wrong for him to kiss her and wrong for him to confess feelings. And definitely...definitely wrong for him to have gotten into the water with her. ”I wouldn’t ever take back that kiss…”And then her heart did that annoying fluttery thing once more and she felt her breath catch in her chest. Her brow furrowed for a moment before her expression softened as she was obviously touched by his words. "Please don't take it back," she breathed softly unfolding her arms from across her chest to move them more in the water as she tread water lightly. ”Just… can I call you mine?”"Of course," she struggled to say, before not thinking and pushing through the water, tossing her arms around him and placing a generous kiss upon his lips. And then..she realized..when she felt..the water and the skin and .....the no normal clothing thing. She pulled away from him quickly back to treading water where she had been, turning scarlet in the face. "I...uh.........Gavin...I......never......with another boy....." Wtf was Adriane talking about?!

So Adriane was the first girl that Gavin had ever kissed. Did he hope that she would be his last kiss, too? Well, yeah, of course! Did he suspect what his creator and Adriane’s creator had in store for him? Of course not. But we’re going to keep it that way. But no, he didn’t want to kiss anyone but Adriane. She was… Adriane. There were no other words that could describe the thought process of Gavin’s mind at the moment. Just… he just wanted to kiss her. Only her. For… however long forever might be. Just… because.
”I wouldn’t ever take back that kiss.”
”Please don’t take it back.”
Nope, he wasn’t planning on it. Gavin watched her expression soften and it eased his nerves a little bit. He could feel the heat in his cheeks lessen as her position softened. He felt a bit more comfortable… but…
”Just… can I call you mine?”
”Of course.”
Gavin’s currently distressed facial expression was replaced by a calm, happy, content expression. He didn’t know what to say, or what to think… this was all so new and fresh… and he never felt like this around any other girl. No… Adriane was his first… well… everything. But he really didn’t have enough time to even complete a thought as suddenly Adriane began to move and she was wrapped tight around him.
Wait.
Gavin’s eyes grew wide, and he looked at Adriane once the realization set in.
Skin.
Gavin immediately shoved his bottom lip in his mouth again.
But… it was… nice? Gavin didn’t know what to do. Should he hug her back? Should he push her away? Should he say something? Surely this was highly inappropriate… and a red flag was going off in Gavin’s mind. This was completely scandalous! And… AHH! But… it was… nice! And oh golly gee wiz… Gavin didn’t know what to do or what to say or what… OH MY GOSH! Just as he was about to put his arms around her, she pulled away, quickly. Gavin retracted his arms, a light blush coming across his cheeks once more.
”I..uh…….Gavin…I…..never…..with another boy…..”
Gavin raised an eyebrow. He didn’t want to talk now… he wanted to hug her again. But that was impossible, he knew. And he wasn’t going to initiate it, no way no how. ”…What?” was all he could manage to say, still at a loss for both words and thought. He probably couldn’t form a coherent sentence at the moment if he tried, either. ”Well… I…. never with another boy either…” he joked, his blush deepening. With his voice barely above a whisper, he muttered ”But… I-I… l-liked it…” but who knows if it was audible enough…

Adriane didn't want to talk. No, she wanted to.....what did she want to do? Well, she wanted to be close to Gavin again. Close to Gavin...while he was...and while she was..And it was just so scandalous! It wasn't even dark outside! It wasn't like Adriane was some prudish girl who thought that PDA was disgusting and tried to remain ignorant to the fact that people had sex outside of marriage or something. It was just she had never been that close or personal with a guy before and she didn't want Gavin to think she was so comfortable with it. She didn't want him to think she had done things...sort of like this or more-so with other boys, because she hadn't. And she hadn't done it because of him, though he was not aware of this. And truth was that Adriane wasn't comfortable with it. Gavin made her nervous and self conscious, especially with this little clothing and how close they were. Boys normally didn't make her self conscious because she didn't care what they thought. Adriane knew she was pretty had a desirable and mature figure for a 17 year old girl. In fact, she could flaunt it without hesitation. Except...around Gavin. That had never been their dynamic. There was never a show between them. Just honesty and friendship. There was no emotional detachment. She cared. End of. ”…What?”"Ummm..."”Well… I…. never with another boy either…”Her face couldn't get any redder and she forced smile and a light laugh at his attempt to lighten the situation. ”But… I-I… l-liked it…”Her brow furrowed, hearing some sort of mumble whisper type something..but indecipherable. Adriane gulped and scooted towards him again in the water. "I can't hear you when you talk so softly. Bad habit, you know." She bit her lip for a brief moment before speaking again. "If you...um...can't speak audibly then you really shouldn't be talking at all." It could be read as an insult but she said it un-surely and gently as she found his hands and brought them gently around her waist, her arms locking lightly around his neck. It was a challenge to be intertwined and still tread water, but it was...fun? Well, Adriane thought so. It somehow made her more anxious...the good kind of anxious. Adriane wanted him to kiss her again and on his own accord. Like he did the first time. Her heart beat hard in her chest to be this close to him. He would kiss her. She could make him, couldn't she? So, she leaned in very close to him, forcing herself to stop biting her lip nervously. Adriane leaned so close to him, quite slowly so her lips just grazed his and she closed her eyes and then.....pulled away. Just slightly! Her forehead rested against his gently. Kiss me, she thought, the slightest hint of a smirk pulling up one corner of her mouth, her eyes still closed.

Gavin didn't know what to think. He was... in the water. In his underwear. And she was in the water... in her underwear. Sure, that's been established already, but it wasn't like Gavin could see anything... not that he was looking of course! He was a normal boy, of course he liked to look at girls... but he just felt awkward, since it was Adriane. They weren't like that. They didn't flaunt their attributes to get the others' attention. They didn't need to. Gavin was just always there for Adriane, no matter what the situation. He liked being there for her... even given their situation prior to this day where she was rude and awful to him around her friends. He just ignored it. But... now... they're close, and practically naked, but not quite... and in the water... and... Gavin shoved his lip into his mouth and softly bit it out of nervousness.
Gavin was so innocent when it came to things of this nature. Up until however long ago it was that he started to hug Adriane and then impulsively kissed her, he hadn't ever had that sensation before. That... kissing sensation... not that... other sensation. He's felt that before... and we're... not going to go there. We're done with that... Gavin could already feel the color taking over his cheeks once again, and he bit down a bit harder on his bottom lip as he looked at Adriane. Well... Agh... Gavin was suddenly incredibly nervous... he didn't know what to do, he didn't know what to say... and then he said "...Well..." to which Adriane replied with an "Ummmm..." And he had to be a dork and say something about never hugging a half naked boy before either... oh how he wished he didn't say that...
And then he mumbled........... Gavin decided he really needed to stop doing that. It was... stupid and annoying... and ARG.
"I can't hear you when you talk so softly. Bad habit, you know."
Gavin mentally slapped himself, and was about to repeat it... but didn't get a chance as Adriane began to speak again.
"If you...um...can't speak audibly then you really shouldn't be talking at all."
Gavin looked at Adriane, completely sorry. He felt stupid and immature for not being able to say what he was thinking... out loud, loud enough for her to hear and respond. Of course... had she heard what he had said, she probably would have gotten out of the lake and gotten dressed and... WHY did Adriane getting dressed matter so much to him?! Ugh... Gavin felt so stupid and his face was probably pretty comparable to a tomato at the moment. But... Gavin didn't say anything in response to Adriane's comment... and she took hold of his hands, to which he raised an eyebrow and just let her do what she was doing... he still had no idea... his hands made their way to around her waist. She was now as close to him as she was when she hugged him, and her arms wrapped around his neck. It was incredible, but his face probably turned even more red.
They were really close.
REALLY close.
The skin on Adriane's belly was touching the skin on Gavin's belly... lightly, but he could still feel it. His hands that were still resting around her waist pulled gently, so that their skin was touching even more. Gavin's heart was beating so loudly and so hard that he thought that Adriane could probably hear or feel it, now that they were pressed so tightly together. Then... Adriane leaned it... and Gavin inhaled sharply, nervous that this was happening... but she didn't kiss him. Her lips lightly grazed his, and he leaned in instinctively, as if their lips were connected by magnets. He didn't kiss her though... but was tempted. His breathing was shallow, and he looked down at Adriane's lips before up at her eyes that were now closed. It was as if she wanted him to kiss her. Which... he wanted to. He... needed to. He... finally just broke down and pressed his lips to hers, a little rougher than last time, but it was... Gavin's heart just beat so hard and he was so nervous... and this kissing and everything was just so great and Adriane... oh... Adriane...

Would he do it? Would he kiss her? Adriane thought that if Gavin could resist this, then maybe he was an idiot. Maybe he lacked testosterone. Maybe he liked boys. Because even though the water was not clear enough for him to see her, he could still feel her. Nooooo not like that! Just you know, feel her skin gently pressed against his as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled herself to him. There were just things he would be aware of and things he could not miss. Things most guys would have killed for by now. Go figure that the one guy she wanted didn't want to take advantage of what she had to offer. But, that was good wasn't it? Suspense was good. Waiting was good. But she had waited over 7 years! Though, she didn't think about these things when she was 11. Oh no. But still. It wasn't as if she had just met Gavin. They knew each other so well in every way but the physical sense. They needed to equalize their levels! Did she really think that? Yes, maybe some of his smartness passed to her when she pressed her forehead against his. But he did want her or to be close to her, rather. Because he had pulled her more snugly to him. Her heart raced and it was almost unbearable for her to resist kissing him. But she could and she would. Adriane wanted to feel like Gavin wanted her. He was a boy. He had to be capable, right? Yes he had to. He wasn't some girly girly man. He had kissed her the first time. He had come after her and dared to talk to her when she was angry. He had some muscles. Not muscles muscles, but he was not scrawny. She could tell. Adriane could tell because they were so tightly pressed together and...if they weren't in water she probably could have just fallen over from all the tension. Kiss me, she willed. And then he did and it was more...more...manly than before. Yes, that's how Adriane would classify it. Not that she was trying to classify the type of kissing that was going on. No, she was not thinking. Adriane was just feeling. She felt enraptured and hormonal. And she, of course, felt Gavin's lips pressed against hers and it was as if this...right now..had been all she ever wanted. Cliche? Maybe, but how can something so hormonally charged be cliche? Yes, she liked Gavin. A lot. Hell, she probably would have even dropped the L word if provoked because she had pined for him so long. But, this right now was not about emotion. Ironically, it was only the fact that she held so much emotion and feeling for him that Gavin was allowed into this position. That was Adriane's mentality. When she cared so much for someone as she did for Gavin, he could have her any way he wanted. There could be impulsive and hormonally charged moments, loooong moments, because she knew that afterward he could still kiss her gently and meaningfully and call her "his". So did all of this mean Adriane wasn't nervous? No. She had never been so exposed and what if Gavin found like....some bodily imperfection that Adriane had blown out of proportion with her self-consciousness....and rejected her! Sure, she liked herself fine when she stood in the mirror, but would he? And he couldn't see her anyhow! Plus...wheeeere was this going?! It was probably darker out now, not that Adriane would tell with closed eyes. Adriane knew where this could go.....but Gavin would never! Her heart skipped a little at the thought of this rendezvous moving into the room of requirement or something so scandalous. So yes, now she was thinking a bit. Adriane let out a breath through her nose as she kissed him from the effort of staying afloat, her chest heaving against his own. Oh...the......hormones.....
